Description
The Austin A40 Devon and its two-door counterpart, the A40 Dorset, were significant automobiles produced by Austin from 1947 to 1952. These models were the first post-war saloons from Austin, blending traditional and modern technologies. They were introduced to the UK press at the Paris Motor Show on October 22, 1947, but received a lukewarm response due to their conservative design. Despite this, the A40 Devon and Dorset achieved impressive production numbers, with over 450,000 units built before being replaced by the Austin A40 Somerset in 1952.
